Hair Regrowth for Men & Women
Hair Loss In Men and Women
Do you find yourself wearing caps more often?
Are you styling your hair differently so no-one notices areas of thinning hair?
Do you avoid public pools and hot tubs because you fear getting your hair wet?
Hair loss (alopecia) in men and women can be very alarming, scary and deeply affect your sense of self or self-image. Often, by the time you notice thinning or falling hair, unto 50% of your hair follicles are already dormant!
Why Do We Lose Hair?
People typically lose 50 to 100 hairs a day. This usually isn't noticeable because new hair is growing in at the same time. Hair loss occurs when new hair doesn't replace the hair that has fallen out.
Hair loss is typically related to one or more of the following factors:
- Family history (heredity). The most common cause of hair loss is a hereditary condition that happens with aging. This condition is called androgenic alopecia, male-pattern baldness and female-pattern baldness. It usually occurs gradually and in predictable patterns — a receding hairline and bald spots in men and thinning hair along the crown of the scalp in women.
- Hormonal changes and medical conditions. A variety of conditions can cause permanent or temporary hair loss, including hormonal changes due to pregnancy, childbirth, menopause and thyroid problems. Medical conditions include infections, recent surgery or prolonged hospitalizations.
- Medications and supplements. Hair loss can be a side effect of certain drugs, such as those used for treatment of cancer (chemotherapy), arthritis, depression, heart problems, gout and high blood pressure.
- Radiation therapy to the head. The hair may not grow back the same as it was before.
- Severe emotional /physical stress. Many people experience a general thinning of hair several months after a physical or emotional shock. This type of hair loss is usually temporary.
- Hairstyles and treatments. Excessive hairstyling or hairstyles that pull your hair tight, such as pigtails or cornrows, can cause a type of hair loss called traction alopecia. Hot-oil hair treatments and permanents also can cause hair to fall out. If scarring occurs, hair loss could be permanent.
What Can We Do to Regrow Hair?
Given the multiple distinct causes that can contribute to hair loss; here at the Aspen Med Spa, we take a multi-pronged approach to supporting your scalp and hair.Â
Our signature hair support program involves the following distinct components:
STEP-1: DERIVE Exosomes
A 100% plant-based comprehensive hair and scalp support system, developed from the EXOIE exosome technology. Exosomes are nanoparticle signaling molecules that deliver growth factors directly to dormant hair follicles to encourage regeneration and reduce inflammation.Â
Available as an in-office serum for application immediately after medical device treatments (below), as well as a home-care daily shampoo and conditioner.
STEP-2: NOUVDERM & SCARLET PRO Medical Device treatments
For DERIVE exosomes do to their regenerative work, they must penetrate deep into the scalp, to reach the hair follicle directly. We use the Nouvaderm 1927nm Thullium Laser and the Scarlet Pro Radiofrequency Microneedling device, to create micro-injuries to the skin of the scalp, allowing deep penetration of the DERIVE exosomes.Â
Notably, delivering this type of energy to the scalp increases blood-flow around the hair follicles, revitalizing the hair follicle and stimulating natural hair growth. Sessions typically last 30-45 minutes, are comfortable even without numbing creams and have minimal downtime. Most patients report a sensation of warmth or tingling during and shortly after the procedures.
STEP-3: PLATELET RICH PLASMA Therapy
In this procedure, we harvest 22m of blood from your arm, centrifuge it to separate the platelet rich liquid and inject that powerful liquid into the scalp, in areas affected by hair loss. This is a virtually painless procedure that takes 30-45 minutes, with no downtime.Â
Our goal is to harness the powerful healing, anti-inflammatory and pro-growth factors that are naturally occurring in your platelets, and direct them to treat hair loss at its source. This treatment encourages the hair follicle to move into the desirable anagen growth phase of its normal life-cycle.
Step-4: Nutritional Supplementation
Our hair needs good quality nutrition to restore its strength, shine and integrity. We encourage a diet rich in nuts, eggs, berries, carrots, sweet potatoes, green-leafy vegetables, olive oil and oily fish (like salmon).Â
This can be difficult to adhere to strictly, hence we provide a proprietary blend of micronutrients in pill form to provide all the nutrition your hair needs - B vitamins, Zinc, Iron, Magnesium, and essential amino-acids. Taking these capsules will help prevent further hair loss and improve the color, texture and strength of the younger, newer hair.
Overall, none of these treatments in isolation are as powerful as they are in combination. At the Aspen Med Spa, we know how stressful hairless can be, and we are by your side throughout this regenerative process. Treatments are typically spread over 3-6 months, and once you have new hair growth, we can use these Steps a-la-carte to maintain your hair growth for the long term!
